Afternoon tea with my big girl

My mum bought a voucher from Rewarding Times for Afternoon Tea for Two in the Conrad Hotel.  She gave it to me and my sister to use and suggested I bring my oldest with us as she reckoned she would enjoy the experience.

Today was the day.  We were booked in for 3.30pm and took the train into Dublin City Centre.  While I endure that train ride everyday to go to work for her it was the start of the adventure.

As our train was due into the City centre we agreed to take a stroll up Grafton Street, Dublin’s shopping street and home to the Disney Store in Dublin!!  We only visited one shop! Guess which one!

I managed to escape the shop without making any purchases (despite many attempts!).

We strolled through St Stephen’s Green and as it was a sunny day it was heaving with those trying to enjoy a few rare rays of Irish sun.

We arrived at the Conrad Hotel about 3.20pm and my sister was there and our table awaited us.  Two glasses of champagne and a fruit juice cocktail and we caught up while waiting for our food to arrive.  When it did arrive it arrived in style.  Beautifully presented, three layers of yumminess! Mini cupcakes, scones, smoked salmon sandwiches to name but a few of the delights.

Even a trip to the toilets was a treat for my big girl – with fancy handgels and handcreams and baskets with individual towels to dry her hands!

A shorter stroll back to the train station and it was home to the rest of the crew.  Back to reality with a sick little boy and household cores to be done but what a lovely girlie day out!
