C-section public seminar

By on

Regular readers of the blog will be aware that I am a C-section mum.  I have written quite a bit about my experience of delivering each of my three children by section.  I was recently invited to speak at an upcoming public forum on the topic of C-sections.

The forum, entitled Caesarean Sections – the risks and benefits for mothers and babies, is being organised by INFANT – The Irish Centre for Fetal and Neonatal Translational Research.  It takes place at 8pm on Thursday 13th November at the Cork University Hospital Main Auditorium and is being organised as part of Celebrate Science 2014 taking place the week of November 9th – 16th

Join Professor Louise Kenny, Professor John Higgins, Professor Richard Greene, Professor Eugene Dempsey and a host of experts and patient speakers for a public forum and discussion on the risks and benefits of Caesarean sections.

The forum will take the form of presentations (including one from me!) on the impacts of Caesarean section on the short and long-term outcomes for mothers and babies.  There will be a discussion and question-and-answer session.

I’m getting a little nervous but really looking forward to what should be a great informative session, all delivered in lay mans terms.  So, if you are in the Cork area next week book your free place by visiting:

This public forum is part of the Celebrate Science Festival which runs in conjunction with Science Week Ireland from November 9th to 15th,  is organised by the education and public engagement staff in SFI’s Research Centres in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Dublin and is funded through SFI Discover’s Education & Public Engagement programme.
